With its EB 2.0 L series,production safety specialist Pfannenberg has developed six chillers withhigh-quality equipment that is tailored to the advanced cooling requirementsof compact industrial applications. As of now, the new series replaces andextends the devices of the previous EB Large series. Apart from a highercooling performance, the new devices are provided with various additionalfeatures such as hydraulic safety equipment, filter monitoring andremote-controlled ON/OFF switch.
Optionally, the devices areavailable with industrial interfaces, bus, and Ethernet interfaces as well aswith UL508a-certification and accessories for operation with an air-water heatexchangers. The amount of refrigerant used has been more than halved comparedto the predecessors and to most of the competitor devices of this performanceclass.
âMore flexibility, environmentalsustainability, easier maintenance, and higher performance were the keyobjectives of the development of our EB series,â says Uwe Eckstein, ProductManager Liquid Cooling Solutions EMEA at Pfannenberg. âThe comprehensiveoptimization of the chillersâ interior equipment, from the refrigerationcircuit to hydraulics and cabling details facilitates not only maintenance andcommissioning but also offers substantial advantages in the operation of boththe chiller and the associated industrial plants.â
Reduceduse of refrigerants due to micro-channel technology
Similar to the usual design ofcompact devices with lower cooling performance, the larger Pfannenbergchillers now also feature condensers with micro-channel technology allowing fora more compact design but above all for a considerable reduction of therefrigerant demand by up to 70%. The standard devices of the EB 2.0L series canbe used at temperatures of between +15Â°C and +45Â°C.
The cooling media to be usedare water or water/glycol mixtures. Outdoor units suitable for use attemperatures from -25Â°C to +15Â°C are available on request.
Clearresponsibilities and effective service from a single source
When designing the chillers, andhere in particular regarding their electrical equipment, Pfannenberg alwaysmakes sure that all applicable standards and directives are fully met. Everycooling unit fulfills the machine directive and is CE compliant already before beingintegrated into the customerâs plant. With respect to safety aspects and CEconformity, all requirements are fully considered in the chillerâs design andwill not be delegated to the responsibility of the customer.
Even if a Pfannenberg cooling systemconsists of several components, the boundary line between the cooling systemand the customerâs plant will be clearly defined. This leads to clearresponsibilities that will not only reduce the operatorâs legal risks but also,regarding any service activities required, provide a great advantage in termsof response time and cost â ultimately offering extra safety for man, machine, and the environment.
